The Burgundy region is situated in the eastern central region of France, and extends from Auxerre to Mâcon. With its 27 200 hectares of production, the Burgundian vineyard represents 3 % of the French vineyard of AOC (PROTECTED DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN). The Burgundy is divided into 5 sub-regions which are, from north to south: Chablis and Yonne, Côte-de-Nuits, Côte-de-Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais.
Beaujolais extends over 17 324 hectares and runs along a ribbon of land from 10 to 15 kilometers wide on 50 kilometers long, along Mâcon in the North to Lyon in the South, on the hilly sides of the mounts of Beaujolais which reach a height from 700m to 1 000 m. The vine ” Gamay Noir ” reigns to master over this earth blessed by the gods, and in the most brilliant way, because it offers an extraordinary palate of wines, of the finest and aromatic (as Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages), in richest and most complex (as ten vineyards of Beaujolais, possessing each a specific character bound to the various countries: Brouilly, Chiroubles, Chénas, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Régnié, Saint Amour).
Present in the region from the Antiquity, the vineyard of the Rhône Valley is the second largest vineyard after Bordeaux vineyard. It extends over six departments (along the Rhône, from Vienne to Avignon) and 75 600 hectares of vineyards, which produce annually more than 3 000 000 hectoliters of dry and frothy red, pinkish, white wines, or natural sweet wines.
Languedoc - Roussillon
The vineyard of Languedoc-Roussillon extends over 4 departments: Aude, Gard, Hérault and the Pyrénées-Orientales, on a surface of 42 800 hectares and for a production of more than 1 800 000 hectoliters a year.
In 1970, the noble vines were planted, which gave renewal of popularity to wines of Languedoc-Roussillon.
